We offer a world-renowned TEFL / TESOL certification course in Uzbekistan that equips you for the professional task of teaching English overseas, or in your home country. Our TEFL certification courses last for four weeks and have a very practical emphasis. There is no need to speak any language other than English, as our courses concentrate on training you to teach English with the international standard communicative approach – where English is the only language used in the classroom.

Our TEFL certification courses

Our TEFL certification courses are certainly demanding; however, we do everything within our power to encourage TEFL students to pass the course and to promptly acquire a teaching job abroad.

The TEFL course in Uzbekistan is divided into six main areas

1) Teaching Practice

This is the most practical and fundamental area of any TEFL training course. During the teaching practice sessions, trainees have the opportunity to teach real students of English and put into practice the skills learnt during the theoretical parts of the course.

2) Foreign Language Experience

During the course, trainees receive instruction in an unknown foreign language to help them reflect on the experience of being a learner. This session is extremely useful in creating empathy between the teacher and student and should help trainees to direct their own teaching.

3) Language Awareness

a) This area focuses on grammar and covers subjects such as parts of speech, the structure of tenses, conditionals and modals and other common grammar points. During these sessions trainees learn about these subjects as well as ways to teach them to their future students in the classroom.

b) This area also looks at the subject of phonology and covers phonemics, word and sentence stress, intonation and connected speech.

4) Student Profile

For this part of the course, each trainee is required to work with an individual student in order to work on things such as rapport building, error analysis, correction techniques and addressing individual student needs. Three meetings with the student are required to complete the profile, after which the trainee completes a one-to-one lesson with their student. The final stage is the completion of a written report regarding the lesson.

5) Teaching Techniques

This component of the course covers areas such as:

  • Lesson planning
  • Classroom management
  • Establishing rapport
  • Discipline in the classroom
  • Managing equipment and teaching aids
  • Creating materials
  • Correction techniques
  • Evaluation and testing
  • Teaching vocabulary
  • Teaching grammar
  • Teaching receptive skills (reading and listening)
  • Teaching productive skills (speaking and writing)
  • Games in the classroom
  • Songs in the classroom
  • Teaching beginner students
  • Teaching individual students

6) Materials Project

All trainees are required to create their own set of materials to be used during the teaching practice. These materials will be useful in future teaching environments and will help to instill the benefits of creativity and resourcefulness in relation to your lesson planning. The materials should be easily portable, durable and adaptable for different lesson points.

Once you have created your materials project you will present it to a course trainer and demonstrate how it will be used in the classroom. Your trainer will then provide advice and suggestions on how they can be improved and how they could be used in another context.

Apply Today

All applications from candidates aged 18 (younger ages may be considered in exceptional circumstances) and above will be considered for our English teaching courses. Our in-class TEFL courses are intensive, four-week programs; however, all trainees should still have sufficient time to explore the local area, experience the culture and to meet new people. Also, individual course organizers will often arrange leisure activities for our trainees so they can socialize in their spare time and make the most of their experience.

With the exception of the citizens of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, everyone needs a visa to enter the Republic of Uzbekistan.

You need to apply for this visa in advance. You can obtain one for 15 or 30 days. Be aware that the visa is date-specific. This means that you can only enter the country from the date you specified and that you have to leave the country before the end date on your visa.

Visa Application form: you can download the official visa application form on evisa.mfa.uz.

Fill it in and print it out twice.

    - Valid passport
    - 2 passport-sized photos

The price of an LOI is between 90 USD and 160 USD and it takes about 7 to 10 days before you receive it, depending on where you apply for one.

Q What is the course schedule?

Class time is generally 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with mid-morning and afternoon breaks and a lunch break. For approximately two weeks, you will be preparing to teach—learning all of the things you need to know in order to be successful in the classroom. For the other two weeks, you will actually be teaching and preparing your materials.

Q What can I expect during teaching practice?

We use local Uzbek students for the trainees’ teaching practice. Uzbek students are very keen and enthusiastic, and because we don‘t charge them to attend, all students come to classes purely because they want to!

Q Who usually attends the course?

The maximum class size in Tashkent City course is 18. Normally, we have somewhere around 8 - 15 trainees. Most of the participants are American, British, Canadian or Australian, although we do accept non-native speakers of English who have a high proficiency in the language.

Q Is there a dress code?

During trainees’ lessons, casual attire is allowed.

In Uzbekistan, teachers are very respectable. So, you will need to have on hand some really smart clothing for the English classes/teaching practice.

Men: Button-down shirts, trousers, a tie, nice shoes that aren't trainers/sneakers... something you'd wear to a job interview.

Women: Shoulders should be covered; very thin straps or tank tops are not allowed. No low-cut necklines, very short skirts or bare midriffs. Open-toed shoes are acceptable.

Q What should I bring for course studies?

Please be sure to arrive on the first day of the course with a notebook and a pen. We also encourage you to bring a laptop as we have Wi-Fi at the training center. We will provide all course materials for you so there is no need to bring anything else for the course itself.

Q What documents do I need for finding employment after the course?

Please bring your resume/CV because the school will require this in the teaching practice. When you secure work you may be asked to provide originals and copies of your college degrees and transcripts.

Q What is the TEFL job market in Uzbekistan like? Will I have trouble getting a job?

The TEFL job market in Uzbekistan is excellent at the moment. Finding employment immediately is only difficult if you wait until the last day of the course to begin looking. With just a little patience, you will certainly locate work in no time, usually in the area of your choice.

Finally, we invite some schools to come to our location to recruit you on the last day of the course. We guarantee job placement assistance, but please note that TEFL International doesn‘t guarantee its graduates employment in Uzbekistan as such. This job placement assistance is an integral part of the course and is available for as long as you need it afterwards.

Q What is the average salary like?

The average salary in Uzbekistan is about US$ 1,500 – 2,000 per month, though of course this varies depending on what type of school or company you work for and whether you work full or part-time.

Q Do most schools provide accommodations for their teachers?

No, but we will help you to find good places to stay if you want.

Q How many of the TEFL graduates actually find work in Uzbekistan?

Most of our course graduates who have wanted to work in Uzbekistan have been able to secure teaching positions.

Q Do schools provide health insurance?

Generally, no, but if you are accepted by a big school and have a long term contract with them, you may be given medical coverage at a local specified hospital.

Q Do schools provide work permits?

Most schools here don‘t do this but they can help you to get/extend your work visa as well as your work permit.
