We offer a world-renowned TEFL / TESOL certification course in Bangkok that equips you for the professional task of teaching English overseas, or in your home country. Our TEFL certification courses last for four weeks and have a very practical emphasis. There is no need to speak any language other than English, as our courses concentrate on training you to teach English with the international standard communicative approach – where English is the only language used in the classroom.

Our TEFL certification courses

Our TEFL certification courses are certainly demanding; however, we do everything within our power to encourage TEFL students to pass the course and to promptly acquire a teaching job abroad.

The TEFL course in Bangkok is divided into six main areas

1) Teaching Practice

This is the most practical and fundamental area of any TEFL training course. During the teaching practice sessions, trainees have the opportunity to teach real students of English and put into practice the skills learnt during the theoretical parts of the course.

2) Foreign Language Experience

During the course, trainees receive instruction in an unknown foreign language to help them reflect on the experience of being a learner. This session is extremely useful in creating empathy between the teacher and student and should help trainees to direct their own teaching.

3) Language Awareness

a) This area focuses on grammar and covers subjects such as parts of speech, the structure of tenses, conditionals and modals and other common grammar points. During these sessions trainees learn about these subjects as well as ways to teach them to their future students in the classroom.

b) This area also looks at the subject of phonology and covers phonemics, word and sentence stress, intonation and connected speech.

4) Student Profile

For this part of the course, each trainee is required to work with an individual student in order to work on things such as rapport building, error analysis, correction techniques and addressing individual student needs. Three meetings with the student are required to complete the profile, after which the trainee completes a one-to-one lesson with their student. The final stage is the completion of a written report regarding the lesson.

5) Teaching Techniques

This component of the course covers areas such as:

  • Lesson planning
  • Classroom management
  • Establishing rapport
  • Discipline in the classroom
  • Managing equipment and teaching aids
  • Creating materials
  • Correction techniques
  • Evaluation and testing
  • Teaching vocabulary
  • Teaching grammar
  • Teaching receptive skills (reading and listening)
  • Teaching productive skills (speaking and writing)
  • Games in the classroom
  • Songs in the classroom
  • Teaching beginner students
  • Teaching individual students

6) Materials Project

All trainees are required to create their own set of materials to be used during the teaching practice. These materials will be useful in future teaching environments and will help to instill the benefits of creativity and resourcefulness in relation to your lesson planning. The materials should be easily portable, durable and adaptable for different lesson points.

Once you have created your materials project you will present it to a course trainer and demonstrate how it will be used in the classroom. Your trainer will then provide advice and suggestions on how they can be improved and how they could be used in another context.

Apply Today

All applications from candidates aged 18 (younger ages may be considered in exceptional circumstances) and above will be considered for our English teaching courses. Our in-class TEFL courses are intensive, four-week programs; however, all trainees should still have sufficient time to explore the local area, experience the culture and to meet new people. Also, individual course organizers will often arrange leisure activities for our trainees so they can socialize in their spare time and make the most of their experience.

    A World Called Bangkok

There’s a reason why Bangkok was named as one of the world’s Top Ten Cities by Travel + Leisure and the number one visited city by Global Destination Cities Index.

It’s a city of fabulous restaurants, frantic non-stop shopping, pristine temples and Thailand’s best museums. It’s teeming with both modern life, city malls and traditional cultural enclaves and floating markets. If you’re in to night life, the City of Angels is second to none.

It’s arguably the single best city in Thailand for Thai food – one of the world’s great cuisines – whether you’re eating on the street or at five star restaurants.

Bangkok is easy to know, but hard to define. Perhaps that’s the reason why some who come end up staying for years. The city is a melting pot for all things Thai as many newcomers soon realize. Thais from all over the nation come here to work and that means they bring their unique part of Thailand with them. If you’re new to Thailand, it’s a one-stop place to get a feel for the entire Thai culture.

    TEFL Course Bangkok

Our training centre in the Thai capital incorporates a language school which provides afternoon classes for children and evening classes for business professionals. It’s also an authorized Cambridge English Test Centre and integrates an exam centre for online computer-based assessment as well as testing onsite at client schools.

Our trainers have many years of ESL teaching experience as well as an extensive background in curriculum development, customized course formulation and eLearning creation. They also have a strong business background and years of experience in providing specialized English training and workshops to many of Thailand’s blue-chip companies.

In addition to strong support in resume formulation and job interviewing skills, we provide expert assistance in job placement for all our students.

Our class sizes are small and we provide individual attention to each TEFL teacher candidate.

    Thailand’s Biggest Teacher Job Market

Bangkok is the centre of gravity for the Thai economy. By far, it’s the single biggest hiring market for English teachers in thailand.

You have over two thousand tutoring and private language schools that hire on demand all year round. There are thousands of public and private schools that hire on a seasonal basis. And you have an infinite number of private tutoring situations.

If you want to get a sense of what modern Thailand and traditional Thai culture is about, there is no better place in the entire Kingdom than Bangkok.

    The School

Our Bangkok-based TEFL training centre is located in north Bangkok close to Kasetsart University – Thailand’s third oldest and now largest university with some 67,000 students – and the world’s only “Elephant Building”, a thirty-two storey tower that floats over our area.

The immediate area around the centre hosts both traditional businesses and modern upscale shops. It’s close to Major Cineplex (a movie house mall) and The Avenue Ratchayothin, which hosts a number of boutique restaurants and fast food outlets. There are also lots of hole-in-the-wall and on-sidewalk eateries serving great Thai food at budget prices.

The training centre includes everything you’ll need in order to successfully complete the TEFL course. We are located in a picturesque open air mall and housed in a three storey building, which also has a school, a computer-based exam test facility, management offices and a reception area. The entire centre is serviced by free Wi-Fi.

The recent BTS Sky Train extension has seen the opening of the new Ratchayothin station, which is only some 300 meters from our training center. This station is on the original ‘green’ line which links directly to Sukhumvit and Silom roads—traditional business, commercial and entertainment centers of Bangkok.

If you like shopping, we’re in the same area (and a very short taxi, bus or van ride) from top Bangkok site and world famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, which has more than 8,000 vendor stalls in 27 sections over 35 acres. Here you can find everything under the sun – and then some – as you shop till you drop.

Less well known (and just behind the Weekend Market) is the Or Tor Kor Market, which has been ranked as the fourth best fresh market in the world by CNNGo. Housed in an absolute riot of colour, it is home to incredible range of beautiful fruits, extremely fresh vegetables, exotic spices, meats, seafood and some unidentifiable edibles. This not-to-be-missed destination also has a food court section where you can sample all this food to your heart’s delight.

Bangkok welcomes more visitors than any other city on planet earth and it doesn’t take long to realize why.

The City of Angels offers a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets. There are single rooms for as little as $120 per month and more comfortable condos are available from $250 to $500 per month. And if luxury is what you demand—something with a handful of stars—you can choose among some of the world’s most acclaimed hotels.

One option is within walking distance to our training centre that offers big well-appointed rooms, excellent facilities and service at a great price. Many of our alumni have stayed there, with very good reviews, as well as teachers who have taken up residence as they teach in local public and private language schools.

    Accomodation Fees

The accommodation fees are not part of the course price and you are free to choose whichever accommodation option you prefer.

You are not obliged to use the accommodation provided by the school and you are welcome to make your own accommodation arrangements. If you choose to use our accommodation, it should be paid for either by cash, PayPal or bank transfer directly to the school at the start of the course.

Q What are my payment options?

Course deposits must be paid to our administrative centre. Credit/debit card payments are the fastest and cheapest way to pay, but we also accept payments via Pay Pal and bank transfer. While there are no deadlines for a deposit, courses can fill up quickly and your seat will only be reserved after the deposit has been paid.

Once you make your deposit, you will receive an informational packet that provides detailed information about the course and Bangkok itself.

The balance of course fees is payable on the first day of class and can be made with a credit/debit card, cash or traveller’s check. Fees are all-inclusive so you won’t be asked to pay additional costs for course related materials or services. This also includes course moderation and accreditation fees, lifetime job assistance and all our basic services.

Q What are my accommodation options?

First off, you’re free to reside anywhere you wish as we do not require you stay at any specific establishment for our course. We have made special arrangements with local apartments in our neighbourhood to provide our students with special monthly rates. These places are within walking distance of our training centre. All our recommendations have been specifically chosen to ensure they provide rooms and modern facilities that will enable you have a comfortable stay.

Our options range in price so you should find something that is suitable for your budget. Upon receipt of your course deposit we will send you our list of recommended accommodation with specific details for each option.

Q What travel documents will I need for Thailand?

You will need a passport that’s still has at least 6 months validly before expiration.

As for entry into Thailand, you have two easy options (and other not as easy ones). The first is a Visa Exemption (VE). For visitors from most countries you will get a VE for 30 days. No paperwork is required and they’re free. You just need to enter Thailand through an airport, which means a major port like Bangkok. (You won’t get a 30 day VE if you come overland through a neighbouring country.)

VEs can be extended for an additional 30 days for a THB 1,900 fee.

Your other easy option is to enter Thailand on a 60 day Tourist Visa, which can be obtained from your local Thai embassy.

The advantage of a Tourist Visa over the VE approach is that a Tourist Visa can be changed into a visa that can be used for work. If you have a VE, you will eventually have to leave Thailand to secure the appropriate visa to work under.

    * Please note visa information is subject to change at any time. Please contact your local Thai consulate or embassy for updated information and the latest requirements.

Q What is the course schedule?

From Monday to Friday, class begins at 10:00 a.m. when trainees learn classroom management, grammar, language and culture and other practical aspects of the course.

    Lunch is from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

From 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. trainees prepare their lessons with the assistance of the instructors and then afterward in the afternoon or early evening - from either 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. they teach their lessons to Thai students.

Your observed class lessons are followed by immediate feedback from the instructors. You will not be teaching every afternoon, but you teach six to eight hours of observed teaching practice over the 4-week course.

On Friday, trainees are free after 1:00 p.m. and your weekend is also free.

This course is demanding. You will need to spend time after class and on weekends preparing teaching materials and completing various assignments.

Q What can I expect during teaching practice?

Our class lessons are typically delivered to students aged 12 years and older. These can vary from one-to-one tutoring sessions to classrooms of some twenty students. Lessons are based upon a real teaching curriculum and we use resources well known within the ELT industry. In general, Thai students are usually very friendly, but a bit shy. They can be keen and enthusiastic to learn English and our student teachers usually walk away with a very positive experience.

You will also have the opportunity to select and/or create your own teaching materials. You will have a lot of help in doing this and receive continuous input from your course trainer. You also get immediate feedback on your lesson after you deliver it. Your “practicum” will be assessed and documented. A satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate.

Q Who can attend the course? Do I need to be a native English speaker?

You need to be at least 18 years old to enrol in our course. There is no maximum age, but do keep in mind that some institutions – such as public schools – may not employ teachers beyond a certain age.

While you don’t need to be a native speaker to attend, you do need to be fluent in English.

We define fluency as having at least a C1 level on the CEFR scale of language proficiency.

Q Is there a dress code?

Casual attire is allowed for all our in house training sessions.

That situation changes when you teach in front of real students. During you live teaching practice sessions, a conservative dress code is prescribed.

Men will need collared shirts, long trousers and dress shoes. A necktie is recommended. Women need to wear shirt tops that cover their shoulders. No visible tattoos or facial piercings are allowed.

We should note these “formal” dress codes are very similar to what you will encounter once you begin teaching at any educational institution.

Q What should I bring for course studies?

We will provide all course materials.

The only things you need to bring are a notebook and a pen.

Please feel free to bring your laptop and/or any internet device you have as we have free Wi-Fi on all floors of our training centre.

Q What documents do I need for finding employment after the course?

While not a requirement by all schools, it’s a good idea to bring your degree, course transcripts and any other relevant qualifications particularly if they relate to teaching.

Originals are better than copies, but copies usually work in most situations. You may wish to have access to the originals, so they can be obtained without you having to go home to get them.

You will receive your original TEFL certificate from us upon successful completion of the course.

Q Do I need a degree to teach in Thailand?

    Sometimes “Yes” and sometimes “No”

There are many different types of employers of English teachers in Thailand including universities, public and private schools, private tutoring schools and language institutes and private classes.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) does require foreign teachers to have degrees. Primary and secondary schools, both public and private, will require a bachelor’s degree in any major and your TEFL certificate.

Having said that, there are many situations that don’t fall under the MoE’s jurisdiction. Teaching in one of Bangkok’s thousands of language schools does not require a degree. That’s a decision that will depend on the hiring authority.

Keep in mind that if you don’t have a degree, your TEFL certification becomes even more important because it demonstrates that you have the necessary training to be effective in the classroom.
