We offer a world-renowned TEFL / TESOL certification course in Taipei, Taiwan, that equips you for the professional task of teaching English overseas, or in your home country. Our TEFL certification courses last for four weeks and have a very practical emphasis. There is no need to speak any language other than English, as our courses concentrate on training you to teach English with the international standard communicative approach – where English is the only language used in the classroom.
This is the most practical and fundamental area of any TEFL training course. During the teaching practice sessions, trainees have the opportunity to teach real students of English and put into practice the skills learnt during the theoretical parts of the course.
2) Foreign Language Experience
During the course, trainees receive instruction in an unknown foreign language to help them reflect on the experience of being a learner. This session is extremely useful in creating empathy between the teacher and student and should help trainees to direct their own teaching.
3) Language Awareness
a) This area focuses on grammar and covers subjects such as parts of speech, the structure of tenses, conditionals and modals and other common grammar points. During these sessions trainees learn about these subjects as well as ways to teach them to their future students in the classroom.
b) This area also looks at the subject of phonology and covers phonemics, word and sentence stress, intonation and connected speech.
4) Student Profile
For this part of the course, each trainee is required to work with an individual student in order to work on things such as rapport building, error analysis, correction techniques and addressing individual student needs. Three meetings with the student are required to complete the profile, after which the trainee completes a one-to-one lesson with their student. The final stage is the completion of a written report regarding the lesson.

6) Materials Project
All trainees are required to create their own set of materials to be used during the teaching practice. These materials will be useful in future teaching environments and will help to instill the benefits of creativity and resourcefulness in relation to your lesson planning. The materials should be easily portable, durable and adaptable for different lesson points.
Once you have created your materials project you will present it to a course trainer and demonstrate how it will be used in the classroom. Your trainer will then provide advice and suggestions on how they can be improved and how they could be used in another context.

All applications from candidates aged 18 (younger ages may be considered in exceptional circumstances) and above will be considered for our English teaching courses. Our in-class TEFL courses are intensive, four-week programs; however, all trainees should still have sufficient time to explore the local area, experience the culture and to meet new people. Also, individual course organizers will often arrange leisure activities for our trainees so they can socialize in their spare time and make the most of their experience.

The total price is divided into: deposit and balance.

The balance of the course fee must be paid by cash, PayPal or bank transfer directly to the training center on the first day of the course.

ITTT’s Taiwan TEFL training course is based in the wonderful, vibrant city of Taipei. Taipei is a thriving metropolis of 2.7 million people and is the capital of Taiwan. It is also the political, economic, educational, and cultural center of the country, and one of the major regional hubs in East Asia. In Taipei you will find a mix of the traditional and modern where skyscrapers are juxtaposed with colonial buildings and old Chinese temples. One of the most famous, modern landmarks in Taipei is the Taipei 101 building, which was the world’s tallest building when it opened in 2004 until the Burj Khalifa was built. The National Palace Museum, on the other hand, is the representative of Taiwan’s traditional Chinese culture and has a massive collection of ceramics, carvings, paintings and calligraphy from ancient dynasties in Mainland China. A day trip to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is also rewarding.
One of the great things about Taipei is the amazing food you can enjoy here. Chinese and Western food are widely available along with other Asian cuisines, and you will find that English-language menus are increasingly available in establishments around the city. Rice and noodle dishes are the staple of Chinese food, and fish, chicken, beef, and pork dishes with cooked vegetables and rice form a typical meal. The dishes tend not to be spicy but come with a variety of condiments, including chili sauce, pepper, and soy sauce. Typical Taiwanese dishes include “braised pork on rice”, “beef noodle,” fried rice, and “soup dumplings” (Xiao Long Bao). Seafood is also popular with fresh fish, lobster, crabs, cuttlefish, and Neritic Squid some of the delights to enjoy.
Taipei City has a vibrant nightlife with many local night markets, and western bars spread across the city. The Shilin Night Market is the most well known of the night markets, which tend to open around 4 p.m. and stay open well past midnight. They are great places to eat and shop on a budget. There are plenty of shopping malls available in Taipei, including one at the base of the Taipei 101 building.
Nature lovers might prefer to visit Yangmingshan National Park, which is located between Taipei and New Taipei City. The park is famous for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes, and hiking trails, including Taiwan’s tallest dormant volcano, Seven Star Mountain (1,120 m). You can also take a trek along the hiking trail near Xiangshan metro station to enjoy the wonderful view of the whole of Taipei City, and admire the beauty of the Taipei 101 building.
With such attractions you won’t regret choosing Taipei as the destination for earning your internationally recognized TEFL certificate and after completing your course you will find that deciding to live and teach in Taiwan is the best decision you have ever made.
The School
The ITTT training center in Taipei is situated in a very cozy area surrounded by schools, universities and parks. The TEFL school is located in an American-English education institute for children and is about a 10-minute walk from the MRT station. It is in a very convenient location and you’ll find it very easy to get around town from here.
Training will take place in real classrooms so that you gain experience in a genuine teaching environment. All members of staff have great English skills and we also have mentor teachers available to give trainees more insights to teaching English as a foreign language.
Accommodation
We provide several options of nearby hostels and these hostels are located near to Taipei Main Station. It will only take about 25 minutes to get from the hostel to the training center by public transportation. Once your place on the course has been confirmed, we will help you to arrange the most suitable accommodation.
Accommodation Fees
The accommodation fees are from USD $500 and are not part of the course price, you are free to choose whichever accommodation option you prefer.
You are not obliged to use the accommodation provided by the school and you are welcome to make your own accommodation arrangements. If you choose to use our accommodation, it should be paid for either by cash, PayPal or bank transfer directly to the school at the start of the course.

What are my payment options?
Deposit payments for the TEFL course must be made to our administrative centre. The quickest and cheapest way to pay is by credit/debit card, but you can also make payments via Western Union, Pay Pal or bank transfer. While there are no deadlines for making the deposit payment, our courses can sell out quickly and you can only be sure your place is secured once the deposit has been paid.
Once you have made your deposit payment, we will send you an email with a booklet with information about the TEFL course and Taipei itself.
The balance payment of the TEFL course fees is due on the first day of your course by credit card or two weeks in advance by bank transfer.
The fees for your course are all inclusive and you will not be asked to make additional payments for any of your TEFL course related materials or services including course accreditation fees and lifetime job search help.
What are my accommodation options?
We have partnered with a Taiwan youth hostel organisation, which enables us to help you to book accommodation in advance.
You can also choose from a variety of hostels and hotels in Taipei at a range of different prices and we can provide a list of hostels and hotels to you if needed.
What travel documents will I need for Taiwan?
All visitors to Taiwan are required to carry a passport with at least six months’ validity after their arrival date.
Passport holders from the UK, the US, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand wishing to enter Taiwan are generally granted a ‘Landing Permission’ at the airport. * As this information is subject to change at any time, we advise everyone to contact your local consulate for current travel regulations prior to planning your trip.
What is the course schedule?
Classes begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday to Friday. There is a lunch break at 1:00 p.m. and classes begin again at 2:00 p.m. In the afternoon classes, students will prepare for their TEFL teaching practice sessions held in the late afternoon. After these sessions you will receive immediate feedback from course instructors. Teaching does not take place every afternoon, but you will receive six to eight hours of observed teaching practice over the four-week course. In addition to these hours, there is also time that must be spent preparing materials and completing various assignments. You will also have the option of teaching adults as well if you would like to increase your experience in this area.
What can I expect during teaching practice?
You will get advice from your course trainer on lesson planning and then get immediate feedback on your lesson after it’s been delivered. Practicum is assessed and a satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL certificate. The students are Taiwanese and are all excited to learn English.
Who usually attends the course?
Class sizes are usually around five to eight TEFL trainees per course and we welcome trainees over the age of 18. Most of the participants are American, British, and Canadian or South African. We do accept non-native speakers of English who have a high proficiency in the language.
Is there a dress code?
For all input and tutorial sessions at the training location, there are no specific dress requirements. We simply ask that you are mindful of your peers/students and be respectful of the fact that you are a visitor in another country.
During Teaching Practice, however, there are specific dress requirements that adhere to the local working culture and basic ideas of professionalism. All trainees are expected to dress “casually smart” according to the following guidelines:
Women:
Shoulders should be covered. Very thin straps or tank tops are not allowed. No low-cut necklines or very short skirts. Bare midriffs must not be visible, even when lifting arms up.
Men:
Long pants or jeans. Short- or long-sleeved shirt with a collar; a tie is not required. Loafers or dress shoes, sandals are not acceptable. Long hair should be neatly tied back into a ponytail.
What should I bring for course studies?
Please make sure that you bring a pen and some notebooks for taking notes during the TEFL course. Otherwise, all the forms and instructions you need will be provided by us, including notes from the input sessions. It is a good idea to bring your laptop or mobile phone with you so you can connect to the free Wi-Fi to do any additional research on the internet.
