We offer a world-renowned TEFL / TESOL certification course in Ireland, that equips you for the professional task of teaching English overseas, or in your home country. Our TEFL certification courses last for four weeks and have a very practical emphasis. There is no need to speak any language other than English, as our courses concentrate on training you to teach English with the international standard communicative approach – where English is the only language used in the classroom.

Our TEFL certification courses

Our TEFL certification courses are certainly demanding; however, we do everything within our power to encourage TEFL students to pass the course and to promptly acquire a teaching job abroad.

The TEFL course in Ireland is divided into six main areas

1) Teaching Practice

This is the most practical and fundamental area of any TEFL training course. During the teaching practice sessions, trainees have the opportunity to teach real students of English and put into practice the skills learnt during the theoretical parts of the course.

2) Foreign Language Experience

During the course, trainees receive instruction in an unknown foreign language to help them reflect on the experience of being a learner. This session is extremely useful in creating empathy between the teacher and student and should help trainees to direct their own teaching.

3) Language Awareness

a) This area focuses on grammar and covers subjects such as parts of speech, the structure of tenses, conditionals and modals and other common grammar points. During these sessions trainees learn about these subjects as well as ways to teach them to their future students in the classroom.

b) This area also looks at the subject of phonology and covers phonemics, word and sentence stress, intonation and connected speech.

4) Student Profile

For this part of the course, each trainee is required to work with an individual student in order to work on things such as rapport building, error analysis, correction techniques and addressing individual student needs. Three meetings with the student are required to complete the profile, after which the trainee completes a one-to-one lesson with their student. The final stage is the completion of a written report regarding the lesson.

5) Teaching Techniques

This component of the course covers areas such as:

  • Lesson planning
  • Classroom management
  • Establishing rapport
  • Discipline in the classroom
  • Managing equipment and teaching aids
  • Creating materials
  • Correction techniques
  • Evaluation and testing
  • Teaching vocabulary
  • Teaching grammar
  • Teaching receptive skills (reading and listening)
  • Teaching productive skills (speaking and writing)
  • Games in the classroom
  • Songs in the classroom
  • Teaching beginner students
  • Teaching individual students

6) Materials Project

All trainees are required to create their own set of materials to be used during the teaching practice. These materials will be useful in future teaching environments and will help to instill the benefits of creativity and resourcefulness in relation to your lesson planning. The materials should be easily portable, durable and adaptable for different lesson points.

Once you have created your materials project you will present it to a course trainer and demonstrate how it will be used in the classroom. Your trainer will then provide advice and suggestions on how they can be improved and how they could be used in another context.

Apply Today

All applications from candidates aged 18 (younger ages may be considered in exceptional circumstances) and above will be considered for our English teaching courses. Our in-class TEFL courses are intensive, four-week programs; however, all trainees should still have sufficient time to explore the local area, experience the culture and to meet new people. Also, individual course organizers will often arrange leisure activities for our trainees so they can socialize in their spare time and make the most of their experience.

    TEFL Bundoran | TEFL Ireland

Our centre in Bundoran is the perfect choice to get your TEFL certification. Bundoran is a small town in Co. Donegal, which has a long, rich, Irish history. Moreover, in this area nature is beautiful: there are many beaches (Bundoran is, without a doubt, the surf capital of Ireland), as well as mountains where our students can hike, the Glenveagh National Park and the beautiful and imposing geologic formations of Slieve League.

In this privileged part of the Wild Atlantic Way our students can enjoy traditional Irish food (fish soup is something worth checking out), long beaches, various sports activities and beautiful hikes. Along with these natural wonders, there are also many historic sites nearby as a good part of Irish history has been written in this area.

In short, Bundoran offers the best of the Emerald Island in a small, convenient package. Plus, Donegal Town and Sligo are only a few minutes away by bus or car and the town is also located only a short trip away from iconic cities, such as Galway and Derry.

On top of all these great possibilities, Bundoran is a very convenient location to reach by public transportation, making it the perfect location for an intensive TEFL course. There is a direct bus from Dublin Airport, and it is also relatively easy to reach from elsewhere in Ireland.

Whether you are looking to take a gap year, enhance your CV, or are simply looking for a useful holiday, we are confident that we can offer you a course that will match your schedule and objectives, as well as an unparalleled experience in one of the most beautiful parts of world.

    The School

Our TEFL training centre in Bundoran is a working language school located just a few minutes from the beach. Bundoran is an easy town to get around on foot or by bike and there are excellent public transport connections for travel out of town. Near to the centre are a number of supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs where you will find all you need while studying for your TEFL certificate.

The school is well-equipped and we provide photocopying equipment, access to resource books, a research centre with computers and internet access and Wi-Fi is available throughout the school. We also provide tea and coffee free of charge as well as microwaves for heating your own meals. Drinks and snacks can be purchased from one of the small shops near the centre and there are plenty of dining opportunities at the many cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby.

    Accommodation

We offer a wide range of accommodation options to our students; from seafront bed and breakfast, to accommodation with local families and short term rentals.

The prices of our various options fluctuate depending on the time of year and availability. However, for a one-week stay in an en-suite room at a cosy bed and breakfast, the price would be approximately €200.

But there are more options: we also offer fully furnished apartments and houses for short term rental, in case you wish to come along with your friends or family. The overall price for a week stay is around €100.

Finally, if you wish to have an experience close to the roots of Ireland, we can also offer you a stay with a local family. The price is similar to other options.

Our accommodation includes internet, fully furnished rooms/apartments, towels and bed-linen and breakfast (unless you choose to rent a short term apartment or house). Other meals can also be arranged on demand.

Prices vary depending on the time of year, so do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will provide you with a personal quote for your preferred accommodation option. Due to this wide array of accommodation possibilities, we are confident we can offer you a solution specifically tailored to your needs.

    Accommodation Fees

The accommodation fees are not part of the course price and you are free to choose whichever accommodation option you prefer.

You are not obliged to use the accommodation provided by the school and you are welcome to make your own accommodation arrangements. If you choose to use our accommodation, it should be paid for either by cash, PayPal or bank transfer directly to the school at the start of the course.
